Learn more on how to properly care for and maintain your fencing equipment to ensure its longevity, optimal performance, and your safety on the strip.

Washable Items

The following equipment can be washed:

Jacket

Breeches (Pants)

Plastron

Epee / Foil Glove

Washable & Silver Lame

(How to wash and maintain your lame)

Mask Inner Padding

Below are the ways you can wash your clothing (jacket, breeches and plastron)

Method 1: Washing Machine

  1. Zip up the suit

  2. Place the suit in a laundry net before putting it into the washing machine

  3. Wash in the delicate mode or at lowest spin cycle (with cold/room temperature water)

Method 2: Hand Wash

  1. Close Velcro on the glove

  2. Wash in cold water and regular detergent

Important Note

  1. Do not use harsh detergent

  2. Do not use bleach

  3. Do not expose suit to direct sunlight

Washing of Clothing

Below are the ways you can wash your glove and mask inner padding.

Method 1: Washing Machine (For Glove)

  1. Close Velcro on the glove

  2. Wash in cold water and regular detergent

Method 2: Hand Wash (For Glove and Mask Padding)

  1. Soak in a bucket of water with detergent

  2. Scrub with your fingers

Important Note

  1. Do not use harsh detergent

  2. Do not use bleach

  3. Do not expose suit to direct sunlight

Washing of Glove and Mask Padding

Below are the steps for washing your lame.

  1. Rinse the lame with cold water. The purpose is to wash off the sweat on the lame.

  2. Hang the lame inside out to drip dry.

Important Note

  1. Do not wring your lame

  2. Do not wash your lame in the washing machine

  3. Do not use bleach or detergent

  4. Wash your lame after every training session

Washing of Lame (Only for Washable and Silver Lame)

Taking care of your lame is crucial, especially if you use it often and sweat a lot. Proper maintenance helps keep it effective and last longer.

  1. After every use, air dry your lame. Do not keep your lame when it is wet

  2. Roll up your lame in a towel. The towel will help to absorb the sweat from your lame and prevent it from rusting

  3. Do not fold your lame. Instead, roll it. Always remember to keep the lame inside out, with the metallic surface inside
